Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik rode the line of being both pro-Trump and anti-Trump corruption for as long as it was possible before she squeezed through and realized she could rise up on the shoulders of neocons and seize power in the GOP if she was willing to do and say anything. The Republican from New York’s 21st Congressional District was always a verifiable liar and political hack from way back, but when she signed on for a coup d’état in December 2020, Stefanik made it clear that she hoped to be a part of whatever oligarchy the GOP might achieve in the coming years.
This means full-throated support for racism as well as every conspiracy theory and talking point, regardless of how fallacious it may be, that will muddy up enough of the water to obscure from her and her political party’s lack of solutions to America’s (and the world’s) problems. Recently, Stefanik is making news because the murderer who targeted Black citizens in a Buffalo, New York, grocery store gave “replacement theory” as one of his motivations for his crimes. “Replacement theory” is an antisemitic and racist theory that’s being promoted by the GOP and media outlets like Fox News which baselessly asserts that the Democratic Party, controlled by shadowy figures like George Soros, human child sex traffickers, and maybe Chinese Muslims, are trying to replace white folks with various people of color. In so doing these nefarious figures will control the universe or some such nonsense.*
Rep. Stefanik is in campaign mode these days, running for reelection on this white supremacist fear-mongering platform. Unfortunately for her (and fortunately for us), a comedy writer has gone about buying up some prime URL real estate with Stefanik’s name on it.
